Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.
The team did not mention the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.
Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File
No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles
Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
